Reconnection - Physical theatre tools for youth workers was a project realised by the cooperation of 11 youth organisations from 11 countries: Bulgaria, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, the United Kingdom and Turkey. Physical theatre as a tool for youth workers was an innovative approach and a combination of different sectors. It was an exciting new methodology to discover and experiment with.
The main activity of our project was a training course which took place in Ankara, Turkey from 25 August to 5 September 2019. During the training course, we learned theatre techniques and methods, improved our body awareness, performance and communication skills, and widened our youth work tool set. Our learning process was based on experimental learning and we used methodologies such as Lecoq pedagogy, Faldenkrais, pantomime, clown techniques and creative storytelling.
For 11 days, we occupied Tiyatro Tempo, a major theatre for children and young people in Turkey. Together with the organiser team, local and international participants we created valuable shared experiences on and outside of the stage while learning from each other and the local stakeholders.

We had the pleasure to watch two plays in the theatre: Karagöz (shadow puppet show) and the Last Day of Socrates (puppet show). Beyond the amazing performances, the theatre company showed us how puppets are made and shared stories from the rich world of puppetry. We also had the chance to try ourselves out as puppet masters.
We would like to express our gratitude once again to Tiyatro Tempo and especially to Haluk Yuce for the wisdom, creativity and care with which they contributed to our training course and final performance. |

The scaling exercise was a part of many days of the training. On their afternoon off, a group of Reconnection participants decided to show this impressive routine to the outside world and they organised a flashmob in the castle of Ankara.
Just in two days, our participants created a beautiful theatre plays in five small groups and from which they composed a theatre performance for the local community. From little idea seeds and plenty of new tools and experiences during the training days, the performed physical theatre show was highly applauded by the audience.
Each play was unique and new, performed first time in Ankara on 3 September 2019, but available for you to watch in its entirety on our YouTube channel.
